PiReda
Director
5967 Harrison Drive, Unit 7
Las Vegas, NV 89120
Re: Notice of Intent to Conduct Prospecting (NOI), CME Mineral Prospecting Project, File P-2011-002, Notice
Complete.
Dear Mr. Cape,
This office received the follow-up submittals of additional materials for the NOI project named above on January 24
and January 27, 2011. Review of these items indicates that they constituted the items that were lacking, and on
January 28, 2011 the NOI packet was deemed complete. The technical adequacy review has begun.
The recent submittal included only NOI Form 2, with an added note explaining that there was no confidential
information to be withheld from the public files. The Division will therefore not consider any subsequent
correspondence or materials as confidential unless they are specifically identified by you as confidential.
The following paragraphs discuss several items that must be addressed. Please provide responses to each of the
deficiencies in the list below:
1. The description of the disturbance from the project includes 1200 LF of significantly upgraded roads, with a
width of 20 feet. Does this indicate that the roadbed will be 20-feet wide, or does this width also include the
cut and fill slopes? Please describe how you will stabilize the cut and fill slopes during the project, and
whether any of the fill will be pulled up and replaced during the reclamation. Finally, are these upgrades
being made under the approval of the US Forest Service?
2. The disturbance includes four drill pads located along the existing roads. The text describes the average drill
pad as 60 feet x 80 feet. According to Map C-3, these areas are much smaller than this. Please explain this
discrepancy and revise the descriptions as needed.
3. The drilling will involve a total of up to ten drill holes from the four drill pads, with more than one drill hole
from most or all of the pads. Are the holes to be vertical, or will they be drilled diagonally?
4. The bond amount will include costs for drill hole closure and sealing, and will be based on the maximum
number of holes open at one time. Please state how many holes will be open at any one time.
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
