PERMIT #: M-1980-112
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: THM
INSPECTION DATE: January 26, 2011
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division
of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division). The Richard Bachman Pit is located 5.5 miles southeast of
Meeker, Colorado off of RBC Road No. 8. The site is a 112c operation. Scott Nielson and Clint Chappell
representing Rio Blanco County accompanied the inspector during the inspection.
The Division is currently reviewing an amendment application for the Richard Bachmann Pit. The purpose of
the inspection was to observe the conditions that existed at the pit which is part of the normal application
process
The mine identification sign was located at the main entrance to the site and permit boundary markers were
located around the entire boundary of the permit area.
The site was almost completely covered with snow during the inspection therefore revegetative success was not
observed. The existing stormwater infiltration pond was observed. The proposed mine plan stated that
overflow from the existing pond would be channeled into and existing dry drainage. Based on the conditions
observed during the inspection it is highly unlikely that the pond will ever overflow due to the usual infiltration
rate that ponds constructed with gravel floors have.
No issues were observed during the January 26, 2011 inspection.
If you need more information regarding this inspection report please contact Travis Marshall in the DRMS
Grand Junction Field Office at (970) 241-2042.
