3. In question 22(d) of the Division's 10 May 2010 Midterm Review of the Colowyo
Mine the Division requested that Colowyo provide a description of the topsoil
salvage and replacement activities that would occur in conjunction with the rill
and gully repair. This description may contain several parts, depending on the
size of the rills and gullies encountered. The salvaging and replacing of topsoil in
these areas is critical to protecting the topsoil resource. Please include a
description of the topsoil salvaging and replacement activities that will occur
in conjunction with the annual rill and gully repair.
This concludes the Division's preliminary adequacy review for the Colowyo Mine's
Minor Revision 106. The proposed decision date for this revision is 7 February 2011.
Colowyo's prompt response to this adequacy letter will ensure meeting this date. Please
call me at (303)866-3456 X8145 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
James R. Stark
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Sandy Brown
Kurtis Blunt
