Enforcement Issues 29 November 2010 <br />Mackey Mine, Bates=Hunter Mine Page 2 <br />Bates-Hunter Mine (M-1990-041) <br />1) Corrective Action, #1, in Inspection Report: Provide evidence that mining activity is occurring at the site, <br />or file a notice o`f Ternp6raryCessation accompanied by the $115 fee (31 Dec 2010). <br />2) Corrective Action #2 in Inspection Report: Provide outstanding Financial Warranty in the amount of <br />$8,730 (31 Dec 2010). <br />The Division understands that due to its location the Mackey. Mine is difficult to access during the winter. <br />Therefore, corrective actions that require activity at the site may be postponed,, until conditions, allow. <br />However, under Hard. :Rock. Rule 8.5(a), the open portal is a serious safety issue that must be abated as soon <br />as practical. For that reason, the Division has given you until 27 May 2011 to complete this task... <br />In our last telephone correspondence, you mentioned the difficulty of maintaining safeguards,at the Mackey <br />Mine portal due to? vandalism. The Division's Inactive Mine Program has experienced technical personnel, <br />that perform mine safeguarding routinely and may be able to provide some guidance.
