STATE OF COLORADO
Bill Ritter, Jr., Governor
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DIVISION OF WILDLIFE
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
Thomas E. Box 879
Idaho Springs, CO 80452
Mr.McHale,
LO??O a
y
OF
For Wildlife-
For People
Thank you for inviting me up to inspect your project yesterday in Hukill Gulch, north of Idaho Spring in Clear
Creek County. Your explanation ofthe tailings impoundment, mobile mill site equipment, milling process and
reclamation plan was helpful. I appreciate your efforts to reclaim the mine tailings in the area and improve the
property for wildlife.
I believe your project will, at a minimum, be wildlife neutral in its impact to local wildlife populations. With
strategic vegetation planting in your reclamation process, in addition to the removal of acid forming materials, the
project could result in a net positive impact on local wildlife populations.
At this juncture, the Division is in support of this project and would be happy to assist in any further consultation
regarding impacts to wildlife as you move forward. You, or the Department of Mining, are welcome to call me at
any time with questions or clarifications at 303.916.1180.
Sincerely; .
s
TPetersburg
District Wildlife Manager- Idaho Springs
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Harris D Sherman, Executive Director
WILDLIFE COMMISSION, Brad Coors, Chair • Tim Glenn, Vice Chair.
