The type is not an important component when considering the local land use and management <br />objectives. Conversion to a higher or better use would be done if not for the militating site <br />conditions and associated costs <br />6.7 Deciduous Trees (DT) Approximately seven acres of exotic and deciduous trees have <br />invaded a north facing mesa sideslope that was originally dominated with pinon - juniper on the <br />Martin property. The deciduous tree invasion is due solely to runoff from irrigated lands on the <br />mesa top. Slopes range 30 to 60 percent and soil is shallow to moderately deep. Soils are <br />represented in soil map unit 98B. Besides a few remnant pinon (2 percent) and Utah juniper (5 <br />percent), the site is dominate with elm (30 percent), Fremont's cottonwood (15 percent), <br />boxelder (5 percent), Hawthorne ( 4 percent) and locust (10 percent). The understory has <br />Rosa Nutans, Kentucky bluegrass, clematis, smooth brome, orchard grass, western <br />wheatgrass, along with those species commonly associated with the sagebrush sites. This <br />area will only incur no disturbance. <br />6.8 Pinon - Jumper (PJ) A small area of 1 acre of Pinon - Juniper exists on a small area of <br />north facing mesa sideslopes belonging to WFC. The site is dominated with pinon and Utah <br />Juniper and plants commonly found in the sagebrush - 1 site. The understory is comprised of <br />blue grama, galleta, bottlebrush squirreltail, snakeweed, four -wing saltbrush, cheatgrass, and <br />rubber rabbit brush. This area will incur no disturbance. <br />6.9 Rangeland - Flood Plain (FP) The bottom of Tuttle draw has a flood plain that varies in <br />width from 20 meters to 100 meters. The flood plain is comprised of two parts, the channel <br />bank which is 1 to 3 meters in width and the alluvial terrace which is 20 to 100 meters wide. <br />Soil map unit 98A is representative of the alluvial terrace soil. The flood plain type resides <br />wholly outside the area of disturbance. <br />6.10 Farmsteads, Orchards. Facilities and Other Types The remainder of the study area <br />includes farmsteads, orchards, roads, ponds, irrigation ditches, and disturbed areas primarily <br />near the farmsteads. Because of the intensity of activity in the area, the number of operators <br />within the study area, and the length of time that these activities have been ongoing in the <br />area, a portion of the study area is included within this category (approximately 5.7 percent of <br />the study area and 5.3 percent of the disturbance area). <br />Revised September 2010 (PR 06) 2.04.10 -80 <br />
