If t is less than or equal to the 1-
tailed t table value for alpha error probability of 0.10, at n -1 degrees of freedom (infinite
degrees of freedom may be used if n > 30), then the null hypothesis is not rejected, and
• revegetation is deemed successful.
3) If sample adequacy is not achieved at the reclaimed site, but is achieved at the
reference area, and the following 2 conditions are met: 1) a minimum of 30 samples were
taken at the reclaimed site, and 2) mean production at the reclaimed site is greater than
Q, a "reverse null" hypothesis will be tested using a one - sample one -sided t -test with
alpha error probability of 0.20, in conformance with DRMS Regulation 4.15.11(2)(c). The
following form of the t -test will be used :
x —Q
` S
Where:
x = Bond Release Block Sample Mean
Q = 90% of Standard
S_ = Standard error of mean [ s / n ]
x
S = Sample standard deviation
11 = Sample size
t, = Calculated t value
x. = Table t value
REVISED 11 Nov 09 Tab 22 -28
