Vince Massaroti of New Elk Coal Company was present during the inspection. This former
underground mine site has been downsized through previously approved bond release to a disturbed area of about
1.2 acres at the former NW-1 ventilation shaft. The weather on this day was clear and seasonal. Ground
conditions were excellent.
Signs and Markers
Recent DRMS inspections have noted the need to improve the markers that delineate the boundary of the disturbed
area. Since the last State inspection, the operator has installed additional surface disturbance markers.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 2 of 3
