This unit passes all proposed revegetation success criteria (Table 1). Qualitative analysis indicates
that the Cameo RDA No. 1 area is in very good condition overall. This area displays excellent diversity
between species and vertical layering of vegetation. Grass diversity is excellent within this unit. A small
portion of the upper bench of the RDA is being used for material storage and was not sampled. Its
location is noted on Map 8.
3.10 Cameo RDA No. 2
Ground cover of the Cameo RDA No. 2 (all seedings combined) consisted of 51.0% live vegetation,
9.1% rock, 20.2% litter, and bare ground exposure of 19.7% (Table 3b). Perennial cover across the unit
averaged 25.0% with annual and biennial cover averaging 26.0 %. Dominant taxa were cheatgrass,
fourwing saltbush, greasewood, and forage kochia with 22.3 %, 7.5 %, 7.5 %, and 5.9% average cover,
respectively. Current annual herbaceous production in the Cameo RDA No. 2 totaled 400 pounds per
acre, with the perennials contributing 169 pounds to forage production (Table 5b). Woody plant density
averaged 2,409 shrubs per acre comprised of fourwing saltbush, greasewood, and shadscale (Table 6b).
This unit passes a majority of the proposed revegetation success criteria with three exceptions
(Table 1): no warm - season grasses were intercepted or observed in the unit and the total herbaceous
production was below 90% of the Shadscale Reference Area value of 558 pounds per acre. Qualitative
analysis indicates that the Cameo RDA No. 2 unit is in average condition overall. Shrub density and
diversity was higher on the flat areas than the slopes.
3.11 Roadside North Portal Facilities - Shadscale
The Roadside North Portal Facilities unit is split into two areas along the 4810' elevation contour and
each of the two areas are compared to either the Greasewood Reference Area or the Shadscale
Reference Area. The following section describes the area of the Roadside North Portal Facilities above
4810' elevation that is comparable to the Shadscale Reference Area.
Ground cover of the Roadside North Portal Facilities — Shadscale unit consisted of 44.1% live
vegetation, 7.4% rock, 18.4% litter, and bare ground exposure of 30.1% (Table 3a). Perennial cover
across the unit averaged 19.8% with annual and biennial cover averaging 24.3 %. Dominant taxa were
forage kochia, cheatgrass, annual wheatgrass, and greasewood with 10.8 %, 10.5 %, 10.3 %, and 3.9%
average cover, respectively. Current annual herbaceous production in the Roadside North Portal Facilities
totaled 580 pounds per acre, with perennials contributing 149 pounds to forage production (Table 5b).
Woody plant density averaged 2,809 shrubs per acre comprised mostly of greasewood with lesser
amounts of fourwing saltbush and shadscale scattered throughout the unit (Table 6b).
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, Inc.
