The CDOW believes it to be necessary that any projects of this kind
follow a review period such as this to identify impacts to wildlife, if any, and mitigate for those impacts.
CDOW has carefully reviewed the proposed request by Rio Blanco County for the Richard Bachman Pit and
offers the following comments:
• The proposed action is to add additional acreage to the existing permit. CDOW affirms that acreage
expansion to the existing permit does not impact wildlife in a detrimental manner.
• CDOW request that post mining reclamation of the gravel pit be planted to a suitable mixture of native
grass/forb/shrub seed that will aid in offsetting negative impact to wildlife.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact Jon Wangnild, District Wildlife Manager, at
(970)878-6067.
Respectfully,
I - _/ ?
