PERMIT #: M-2000-103
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: RCO
INSPECTION DATE: December 15, 2010
state-listed noxious weed that is required to be controlled. The Canada thistle is still present onsite, but the
patch is smaller. It is suspected that the operator did not actually treat the weeds but that the thick lifts of
backfill material emplaced probably impacted the weed infestation, reducing the size of the patch. Whatever
the reason for the smaller patch, it is still present on the lower level of the northern portion of the slope. This
is not noted as a problem at this time, but the operator is reminded that: (1) if the weed patch is observed to
be larger during a future inspection it will become a problem, (2) the bond may increase to include more weed
control costs, and (3) permit will not be released as long as the Canada thistle infestation is present and
uncontrolled.
At this time, the operator has not begun any revegetation activity, though it is required as part of the
approved reclamation plan.
Sims and Markers:
The operator has sold the property to another owner, but the permit was not transferred. APS is still the
permittee. Observations during this inspection did not include the permit ID sign, but it is still required until
such time as the permit is released. It is important, therefore, that the permittee ensure that a sign is in place,
by either posting one himself or arranging with the current owner to install one. Please refer to Rule 3.1.12
for the wording to be included on the sign.
For questions regarding this report, please contact this inspector at the Division's Durango field office:
DRMS
691 CR 233, Room A-2
Durango, CO 81301
Inspection Contact Address
Allen P Small
Allen P Small Trucking & Excavation, Inc.
2149 CR 309A
Ignacio, CO 81137
CC:
Dave Dillon (landowner)
Sandco
PO Box 4440
Durango, CO 81302
