(Holcim), Golder Associates Inc. (Golder) is pleased to present this letter <br />report describing the activities and results of the September 2010 groundwater monitoring event for the <br />Boettcher Limestone Quarry (Site) in La Porte, Colorado. This report has been prepared in response to <br />the letter, File No. M-1977-348; Boettcher Limestone Quarry, Review of Historical Groundwater Data and <br />Request for Additional Groundwater Sampling, from the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and <br />Safety (DRMS) dated February 18, 2010 to Holcim (DRMS 2010a). All monitoring activities were <br />conducted in accordance with the procedures described in the Groundwater Sampling and Analysis Plan <br />(SAP) for the Site (Golder, 2010a), which was approved by DRMS in June of 2010 (DRMS 2010c). <br />In addition to monitoring groundwater levels and collecting samples for water quality analysis, <br />supplementary activities were performed to address comments from DRMS in their letter of May 20, 2010 <br />(DRMS 2010b) and as described in Holcim's response to these comments (Golder 2010b). <br />This letter report documents the following: <br />¦ Relevant Site information (Section 1); <br />¦ Field activities performed from late July through September of 2010 (Section 2); <br />¦ Groundwater monitoring results and validation (Section 3); <br />¦ Comparison of results to benchmark levels (Section 4); and <br />¦ Discussion of results and conclusions (Section 5). <br />Additional details of some activities are presented as attachments to this letter report. <br />1.0 GENERAL SITE INFORMATION <br />The Boettcher Limestone Quarry is located in Larimer County near LaPorte, Colorado. More specifically, <br />the quarry comprises portions of Township 8 and 9 North, Range 69 West of the 6th Principal Meridian. <br />The original permit to operate the Boettcher Quarry (Permit No. M-77-348) was approved on <br />October 10, 1978 by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board (MLRB), of the Department of Natural <br />Resource to Ideal Basic Industries.
