(WWE) on behalf of Western Gravel, Inc. (WGI), is requesting a
Wright Water Engineers,
two year renewal for the Olathe Gravel Pit Substitute Water Supply Plan (SWSP) submitted in
April 2008, which expires March 31, 2010.
Tables detailing the depletions associated with mining operations are attached to this document.
Since the submittal of the original SWSP, WGI has forgone mining of the Olathe Pit due to
unfavorable economic conditions; therefore, the depletions have not changed from those already
approved, except for a decrease in anticipated mining production from 55,000 tons to 40,000
tons per year. Table 2 outlines depletions through March of 2012 assuming that mining
operations will take place in 2010 and 2011.
NOGI has applied to purchase 3 acre-feet of water from Blue Mesa for replacement per the
,conditions of approval, and are in the process of purchasing an additional 1.6 acre-feet to satisfy
the total replacement supply of 4.6 acre-feet for Year 1 (Table 3, Column (5) for Year 1). An
additional 0.9 acre-feet will need to be purchased before Year 2 to meet the Year 2 replacement
supply of 5.5 acre-feet (Table 3, Column (5) for Year 2).
A well permit application has been filed with the state (receipt #3627765) and WGI is waiting on
the Blue Mesa Contract approval for the issuance of a well permit. A check for $257.00
covering the SWSP renewal fee has been mailed by WGI.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
DENVER GLENWOOD SPRINGS
(303) 480-1700 TEL (303) 480-1020 FAX (970) 945-7755 TEL (970) 945.9210 FAX
