each well volume was removed. Groundwater was purged until these parameters were <br />stabilized and reproducible (typically after three or five measurement sets). <br />Water levels in each of the alluvial wells were low. The St. Charles river flow was also <br />very low, with very little observable current. Each of the alluvial wells produces significant <br />water while bailing. Even though wells MWO02 and MWO03 had less than 3 feet of <br />standing water each, sufficient water flow was available to purge 3 casing volumes, and fill <br />all sample bottles. <br />All groundwater samples were submitted to Accutest Laboratory (formerly Evergreen <br />Analytical Laboratory), located in Wheat Ridge Colorado, for analysis. Accutest <br />subcontracted analyses for radiochemical parameters to Hazen Research laboratory, located <br />in Golden, Colorado. <br />RESULTS AND DISCUSSION <br />Results of the groundwater sampling are provided in Table 1. Analytical results provided <br />by the contract laboratories are presented in Appendix A. <br />All samples were submitted for analysis of selected dissolved metals, general chemistry <br />parameters, and radiochemistry parameters. The results of these analyses are discussed in <br />the following sections. <br />Dissolved Metals <br />The following dissolved metals were not detected in any samples collected during the <br />October 2010 monitoring event: Aluminum, beryllium, chromium, cobalt, nickel, silver, <br />vanadium, zinc, antimony, arsenic, cadmium, lead, thallium, and mercury. Isolated <br />detections (detected two times or less since march 2008) have been reported historically for <br />aluminum, beryllium, cobalt, copper, lead, and mercury. These detections have been at <br />concentrations very close to reporting limits. <br />Dissolved metals that are regularly detected during the groundwater sampling include <br />barium, boron, calcium, lithium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, silicon, sodium, and <br />selenium. The remaining metals, iron and arsenic, have been detected sporadically since <br />2008.
