•
Class III Inventory, Colowyo's Collom Mine Project 213
NRHP Eligibility Recommendation and Project Effect Site 5MF6110 is recommended as not
eligible for listing on the NRHP when evaluated under Criterion D. The site is a surface
manifestation that lacks dateable cultural features and temporally diagnostic artifacts and is
comprised of an artifact assemblage that has a limited density and diversity of cultural material. The
primary context of the site has been impacted by erosion. The sediment context suggests that the site
has no potential to contain intact significant subsurface cultural deposits. Recordation has exhausted
the research potential of the site.
The site is located within the mine permit boundary. However, because the site is recommended as
not eligible for the NRIIP, the current project will have no effect. Cultural resource clearance is
recommended, with no further work.
6.1.53 Site 5MF6111 N( F -3)
ip Site Tyne Prehistoric lithic scatter
Legal Location Section 12, T4N, R94W
Landowner Private
Site Dimensions 142 x 90 m
Site Description Site 5MF6111 is a diffuse prehistoric lithic scatter located onthe southeast - facing
slope of a northeast - trending ridge at 6,560 ft (1,998 m) (Figure 6.127). The ridge upon which the
site is located is within the margin between Axial Basin to the north and the major uplifted ridge
system to the south (Figure 6.128). Collom Gulch occurs to the east and the mouth of Collom Gulch
is approximately 0.5 mi (0.8 km) south of the site. On -site sediment consists of silty sand with a
large volume of gravel and eroding bedrock detritus. The vegetation community consists of scattered
juniper trees, sagebrush, rabbitbrush, cheatgrass, low bunchgrasses, and various forbs. Impacts to
the site include erosion and livestock trampling.
47599
TRC Mariah Associates Inc.
