The
general area is characterized as the margin between the major ridges to the southwest and Axial
Basin to the north (Figure 6.126). Impacts to the site include
erosion and livestock trampling.
The diffuse lithic scatter consists of five flake tools and 25 flakes. The five flake tools consist of
three retouched flakes and two utilized flakes. The first retouched specimen is a complete opaque
chest secondary flake with one lateral edge retouched to form a steep edge angle. The artifact
measures 3.5 x 2.8 x 0.3 cm and exhibits usewear on the distal edge and both lateral margins. The
second retouched specimen is a complete opaque chert tertiary flake with one lateral margin
retouched to form a steep edge angle and exhibits usewear. The tool measures 3.7 x 1.7 x 0.7 cm.
The third retouched specimen is a complete opaque chert tertiary flake that measures 6.7 x 5.5 x
1.8 cm. Retouch is present along a portion of the distal and lateral margin. Of the two utilized
flakes, the first specimen is the medial /distal portion of an opaque chert flake that measures I AP x
47599
TRC Mariah Associates Inc.
