130 Class Iff Inventory, Colowyo's Collom Mine Project
The five bifaces consist of one final biface fragment and four blanks. The final biface is a medial
portion made of gray opaque chert that measures 1.6P x 0.8 x 0.3 cm. Of the four blanks, two are
classified as tools based on usewear and the other two blanks are classified as manufacturing stages.
Blank 1 is a manufacturing stage made of variegated opaque chert that measures 4.7 x 3.2 x 1.0 cm.
Blank 2 is a manufacturing stage made of mottled opaque chert that measures 4.5 x 1.7 x 0.7 cm.
Blank 3 is the distal /medial portion of an incomplete tool made of mottled opaque chert that
measures 5.7P x 4.7 x 1.2 cm. Usewear was noted along both lateral margins. Blank 4 is a complete
tool made of opaque white chert that measures 4.3 x 3.3 x 0.9 em and exhibits usewear along one
lateral margin.
The drill is an incomplete specimen made of gray opaque chert that measures 2.3P x 0.7 x 0.4 cm.
The four flake tools are all utilized tertiary flakes. The first specimen is made of quartzite, measures
3.7 x 3.0 x 1.0 cm, and exhibits usewear along one lateral margin. The second specimen is made of
- opaque chert, measures 1.9 x 1.5 x 0.2 cm, and exhibits usewear along a portion of one lateral
margin. The third specimen is made of white opaque chert, measures 5.1 x 3.8 x 0.9 cm, and has one
utilized lateral margin. The fourth specimen is made of white opaque chert, measures 4.4 x 2.8 x
2.2 cm, and has one utilized lateral margin.
Both cores are complete multidirectional specimens. The first core measures 9.4 x 5.8 x 2.8 cm and
is made of semitranslucent chert. Ten flakes have been removed. The second core is made of white
opaque chert and measures 6.9 x 6.5 x 1.8 cm. Eight flakes have been removed.
The debitage assemblage is dominated by 119 tertiary flakes with the remainder comprised of eight
secondary flakes and one primary flake. White opaque chert is the most common material type with
82 flakes (80 tertiary flakes and two secondary flakes). The remainder of the assemblage consists
of 23 semitranslucent chert flakes (18 tertiary flakes, four secondary flakes and one primary flake),
14 quartzite flakes (12 tertiary flakes and two secondary flakes), and nine opaque chert tertiary
flakes.
•
47599 TRC Mariah Associates Inc.
