Phase I excavation will consist of auger tests, 1 x 1 -m test <br />units, and backhoe trenches to assess the potential for significant buried archaeological deposits <br />at the sites. The primary goal of the Phase I excavations is to assess different areas of the sites <br />to determine the placement of the Phase II excavations. These phases will mitigate adverse <br />effects to the eligible properties. <br />Both phases of this project are guided by a research design presented below in Section 2.0. The <br />site descriptions and NRHP recommendations are included in Section 3.0. Section 4.0 consists <br />of the proposed scope of work for Phases I and II at each site.
