0
382 Class III Inventory, Colowyo's Collom Mine Project
(• Figure 6.232 Overview of Site 5MF5298, Looking South (Taken by Mark Karpinski, 8/14/05).
was characterized as fine gray -brown alluvial and colluvial silt that was sheet washed and at least
2mdeep. Vegetation on the site was a sagebrush mosaic with rabbitbrush, short and tall bunchgrass
and other grasses, and £orbs. The site consisted of eight features (three dugouts, three rectangular
foundations, and two circular foundation features) and a limited amount of domestic artifacts in an
area approximately 200 x 175 ft in size. Research by MAC indicated that Glenn Hann homesteaded
the property on May 13, 1925.
•
The current inventory found the site to contain the same features and artifacts as those recorded in
2003 and to be in the same physical condition, and it lies about 300 R (91 m) east of an ephemeral
tributary of Collom Creek. In addition, the current inventory discovered three new features and
associated artifacts approximately 426 It (130 m) south of previously recorded Feature 3. They
appeared to represent the same occupational time frame and cultural affiliation and therefore were
incorporated into the original site and the site boundary expanded.
47599
TRC Mariah Associates Inc.
