amec <br />Earth & Environmental <br />CQA ACTIVITIES: <br />SUMMARY: <br />• The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction <br />activities of the contractor. Field observation included removal of the existing topsoil stockpile near <br />the northwest portion of the VLF. In addition, observation of the drilling began on February 5, 2009 <br />to delineate the extent of underground mine workings located beneath the sediment collection pond <br />and continued through week ending 2/13. <br />Night shift continued from February 9 to February 13. <br />No work was performed on Saturday, February 14. Currently no work activities are planned for Saturdays <br />but Ames has indicated that Saturday will be used as a make up day in the event of delay or stoppage <br />during the current planned work periods Monday to Friday. <br />I. Testing Summary <br />No testing was performed at this time. One processed clay sample was collected from Ames' Process <br />plant (SLF-4-C). <br />GENERAL PROJECT ITEMS <br />Summary of Concerns: <br />No Concerns <br />Summary of Non-conformances: <br />None Issued <br />Summary of Meetings and Discussions: <br />CC& V. <br />• CC&V held a Weekly Contractors' meeting on February 10, 2009. Items discussed included Safety, <br />Environmental, Schedule, QC documentation, and CQA. <br />• CC&V held a project blasting procedures and planning meeting with the Contractor Ames, <br />RockBreakers and CC&V staff including safety, environmental, and CC&V blast crew. <br />• Amec and CC&V discussed status of the LLDPE geomembrane purchase and Certifications. Samples <br />need to be obtained from the manufacturer to send to a 3rd party testing laboratory (TRI) in Texas. <br />CC&V indicated that Ames will be purchasing the liner. <br />Ames Construction: <br />• Roger E. - Discussed general work items during the week after the daily safety meetings. <br />Amec: <br />Others: <br />Daily Safety/Tailgate Meetings: <br />AMEC personnel attended Ames daily safety meetings being held prior to the start of each day shift. <br />Sheet 3 of 6 <br />VLF Weekly Report WE 02.13.09.doc
