The unvegetated and low-vegetated portions of the entire site were seeded at
least lightly. Thus the seeding rate varied but it was estimated to average 4
pounds of seed per acre. This is calculated by figuring the 957 pounds of bulk
seed at about 85% pure live seed or approximately 813 pounds of seed spread
over 200 acres.
Weed Control Plan
A weed control plan was prepared by Bamberg Ecological in January 2006 as a
result of observation of patches of Russian knapweed and Canada thistle on site.
This plan was implemented in 2006 and has been effective. The Canada thistle
has been reduced and the Russian knapweed has apparently been eradicated.
This weed control plan is incorporated into the reclamation plan by this reference.
Fines Stockpiles
Two stockpiles of fine material containing approximately 145,000 cubic yards
remain on site. It is thought that this material is marketable as traction sand and
we have been approached by a private party interested in purchasing this
material. It is planned to sell this material and revegetate the footprint. Should
this material prove to be unmarketable, the slopes of the stockpiles will be
reduced to a 3:1 slope and the surface revegetated.
Concrete Pad
A concrete pad remains from the period of active mining operations which may
facilitate handling of the fines material. Once the fines material has been sold
and removed from site, this pad will be broken up and buried in place.
Access Road
The existing access road will be left in place.
