shown on both maps. Additionally, the Division recommends making a notation following
the ditches common to Maps 41 and 41A to instruct the viewer that these ditches are shown
on both maps.
Response: As previously noted, the drawing files that create Maps 41 and 41A have been
combined. The same is true for Maps 12 and 12A. Call out boxes have been added to
Maps 1212A & 41_41A, with information to present the location of the hydrologic
design information for both ditches and sediment ponds. We believe this will greatly
clarify the presentation of hydrologic design information. Instead of the Division's
recommendation regarding a legend entry about ditches common to both maps, we
have updated the small location map near the title block that shows the map
coverage.
a. On the currently approved Map 41 the Taylor Tributary Ditch flows from the top of
the East Taylor Fill through the West Pit and into the East Taylor Pond. The approved toe
of the East Taylor Fill is at approximately station 87+00 of the Taylor Tributary Ditch. The
proposed toe of the East Taylor Fill will put it at approximately station 80+00 of the Taylor
Tributary Ditch. Additionally, the proposed plan for the East Taylor Fill does not call for
the Taylor Tributary Ditch to flow down the middle of the East Taylor Fill. Rather, the East
Taylor Fill will drain into the East Taylor East Tributary Ditch and the East Taylor West
Tributary Ditch. There two ditches will then flow into the Taylor Tributary Ditch (and
ultimately into the East Taylor Pond). Please redesign the Taylor Tributary Ditch to
correct its length and location for the proposed toe of the East Taylor Fill (Map 12 and
Map 33A will also need to be updated with this redesign). Please provide new SEDCAD
modeling for the redesigned Taylor Tributary Ditch. Please include the new fill design on
Map 41 as well as the portions of the East Taylor East Tributary Ditch and the East Taylor
West Tributary Ditch that appear on Map 41. Please include the portion of the Taylor
Tributary Ditch that appears on Map 41A. Please provide new SEDCAD modeling for the
East Taylor Pond to reflect the changes to the Taylor Tributary Ditch, the East Taylor East
Tributary Ditch, the East Taylor West Tributary Ditch, the East Taylor Fill and the changes
to the post-mining topography on and around the East Taylor Fill.
Response: This response will be provided upon finalization of the hydrologic design.
b. The West Pit Ditch intercepts the Taylor Tributary Ditch at approximately station
78+00. This intercept location is just below where the East Taylor Fill will toe out (at
approximately station 80+00 of the Taylor Tributary Ditch). Please review the location of
the West Pit Ditch to ensure its location will not be affected by the proposed toe of the
East Taylor Fill. Please add the West Pit Ditch to Map 41A.
Response: The West Pit Ditch has been deleted given its close proximity to East Taylor, East Trib
Ditch.
C. Map 41 shows the Section 16 Taylor Ditch (Version 2). This ditch is located in the
southwest corner of the map and is above (topographically) the East Taylor Fill. The
approved design of the ditch appears to have it draining into an area above the fill and,
ultimately, into the Taylor Tributary Ditch. This ditch is not shown on Map 41A. As
discussed in "a" above, the proposed design for the East Taylor Fill has the runoff flowing
into the East Taylor East Tributary Ditch and the East Taylor West Tributary Ditch and,
ultimately, into the Taylor Tributary Ditch. Based on the proposed plan it appears that the
