• 10. Legal description:
The complete legal description is in the existing Hogue River Pit 112c Regular Operation
Permit application, Exhibit A. The general location is parcels of land in Sections 4 and 9,
Township 6 North, Range 85 west of the 6 h principal meridian, County of Routt, State of
Colorado.
11. Acres permitted:
This Application is request to permit additional parcels of land through an amendment to
an existingl 12c Regular Operations permit (the existing Hogue River Pit Permit) for an
open pit mineral extraction and construction aggregates processing facilities. The Hogue
River Pit expansion will add approximately 11.7 acres to the existing 51.0 acres for a
combined total of approximately 62.7 acres. The Hogue River Pit is being mined so that
the proposed reclaimed slopes are created during the final stage of material removal.
(The exception are the shallow areas shown on the Reclamation Plan Map that will be
reclaimed to wetlands and will extend out, into the mined out pit area. These areas will
require backfilling with overburden, processing waste and topsoiled as appropriate.)
12. Acres affected:
0 The expansion area will be one phase of approximately 10.7 acres.
13. Estimated life of the operation:
The estimated life of the Operation is difficult to predict. However, if the market demand
for the product is as in past years, the mine could be expected to be in operation for 4.6 -
9.2 years. This estimate may vary due to market demand and therefore the Operation
could run longer.
14. Mine site access:
The mine site has one existing point of egress and ingress. The Operation makes access
directly with US 6 & 40. Routt County access permit and a Colorado Department of
Transportation (CDOT) access permit have been obtained for the existing Hogue River
Pit Permit. In addition, the Operation has approval to cross the railroad right of way.
The reason or purpose for this Amendment Application is to extend the life of the Operation and
allow for the mining of sand and gravel on HRLP land. This land is a good source for
construction material for Routt County. This project will not substantially modify the intent and
purpose or spirit of the land use policy that is currently in effect, and will return the area to a
pond suitable as wildlife habitat and potential home sites upon completion of mining and
. reclamation. This post mining use is what is approved for the existing operation.
4
