sediment prior to discharge through a ditch which runs along the east side to the mine site to the
Yampa River. This system is in compliance with the Operations Discharge Permit from the
Water Quality Control Division, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
(d) The size of the area(s) to be worked at any one time:
The size of the area to be excavated (10.7 acres) is shown on the Mine Plan Map, attached. The
expansion area will be mined using the same method as used for the Hogue River Pit mining
operation, creating a pit for a future pond.
(e) An approximate timetable to describe the mining operation:
This is a short term mining operation. The estimated cubic yards of minable sand and gravel is
469,800 bcyds. Total excavation (including overburden) is estimated at 572,900 bcyds. It is
estimated mining will occur at an average rate of 62,500 to 125,000 bcyds of total excavation per
year. The estimated life of the operation is 4.6 - 9.2 years, if the anticipated sale of product is
met.
(i) An estimate of the periods of time which will be required for the various
phases:
The expansion area will be mined in one phase. The phase will require from 4.6 to 9.2 years
to completion.
•
(ii) A description of the size and location of each area to be worked during each
phase:
The expansion permit area will be approximately 11.7 acres in aerial extent. Its location is to
the west of the current Hogue River Pit and will join the existing Hogue River Pit operation.
(iii) Outline the sequence in which each phase of the operation will be carried
out:
The expansion affected area will consist of one phase. It will be approximately 10.7 acres in
size and is expected to complete the construction of the proposed lake.
(f) A map in Exhibit C may be used along with the narrative to present the following
information:
The Operator considers the following information, (1)(i) and (ii) as confidential
11
