Additional Pages
2010 Annual Report
Fountain Pit
M-1982-155
Schmidt Construction Company
Anniversary Date: December 31
Overview of Permit Year: During the 2010 operating year there was low activity at this site. Mining expanded
only about 1.25 acres. It is not expected, but possible, that a little more land will be stripped during the next
year. It all depends on the state of the economy. This low activity was due to the poor economy and low
demand for aggregate.
Annual Report Maps: The annual report map is almost identical to the 2009 map; a couple of boundaries
were expanded slightly.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land is slightly more than last year. The main cause of this minor
change is due to the low demand for product. This is mainly due to the severe downturn in the economy.
Revegetation: The site is stable and is not subject to erosion. No additional revegetation was done in the last
year. A slight amount of additional backfilling occurred in mined out areas. As practically no new land was
opened there was very little overburden available to do more backfilling.
Expected Activity (2010): Mining activity in 2011 is essentially unpredictable at this point. If the economy
improves and demand for product increases then some new land may be stripped and prepared for mining. This
is only a possibility and not an expectation. The 7.2 acres shown on the map may be optimistic.
Schmidt Construction Company 2010 Annual Report M-1982-155 Fountain Pit Page 1 of 1
