Corey Heaps
CAM - Colorado, LLC
November 30, 2010
Page 11
29. Table 2.04.10 -3 "Greasewood Predisturbance Area -Plant Cover ", referenced on page 8 of
Exhibit 5, was not included in our copy of Exhibit 5. Please provide the subject table for
inclusion in our copies of Exhibit 5.
30. In the third paragraph under "Plant Cover" on page 8, Exhibit 5, and various subsequent
sections of the text and tables, gray molly (Kochia Americana) is identified as a dominant
species in the greasewood affected and reference communities. The Vegetation section of
the Wildlife Report (Exhibit 10), does not mention gray molly as an understory component,
but does mention alkali seepweed (Suaeda moquini), which is not included in the Exhibit 5
data or species list. From our observations at the site, we believe the plant in question, a
suffiutescent species (woody base and herbaceous stems) is likely alkali seepweed, based
on the plant stature, with many individuals exceeding 20" in height (some as tall as 48" in
favorable sites), and apparent lack of pubescence on leaves and stems. Please confirm the
identification of the subject plant, and amend the exhibit as warranted.
31. In the third paragraph of page 8, Exhibit 5, the relative cover of greasewood is listed as
7.12 %. This would appear to be an error, and presumably should be 37.95 %. Please
correct the error.
32. The reference to "15" shrub density belt transects under "Shrub Density", on page 8,
Exhibit 5 is an apparent error, and should be "25 ". Please correct the error.
33. Under the "Irrigated Wetland" heading on page 9 of Exhibit 5, near the end of the first
paragraph, the fact that a very limited extent of disturbance would occur to the irrigated
wetland type is referenced, but it is stated that "the actual amount of disturbance planned
for this type is currently unknown... ". Based on the rail corridor as depicted on Map 3, it
appears that planned cumulative disturbance to the Irrigated Wetland type would be limited
to approximately 0.5 acres or less. Please update the subject narrative to accurately reflect
the planned extent of disturbance to the type. Also, given the very limited disturbance to
this community type, it would be appropriate that it be addressed within Exhibit 5 under
"Description of Minor Predisturbance Area Vegetation Types ", rather than "Major
Predisturbance Area Vegetation Types ".
34. There is a typographical error in the second paragraph under "Greasewood Vegetation
Type" on page 15 of Exhibit 5; "1664" should be "1.664 ". Please correct the typo.
35. The paragraph on page 16 of Exhibit 5 that states "disturbance corresponding to the
Wetland ... will be reclaimed to the revegetation success standards for plant cover and total
herbaceous forage production obtained from the Greasewood reference area", would seem
to more accurately be written as "disturbance... will be included within the reclaimed area
sample universe for comparison to the revegetation success standards... ". Please amend as
warranted for clarity.
