0
ameO
2.2.2 Secondary Underdrain
Ames constructed approximately 198 linear feet of Secondary Underdrain in the 2010 Phase
5 VLF. Record Drawing No. 2 shows the location of the Secondary Underdrain. The
cross-sectional dimension of the secondary Underdrain was nominally 4 feet wide by 2 feet
deep, providing a cross-sectional area of 8 square feet, as shown on IFC Drawing A260. Ames
excavated each Secondary Underdrain trench to the minimum dimensions, and placed
geotextile and OF in the trench. Ames placed SSF over the geotextile to a minimum depth of
6 inches. The Secondary Underdrain geosynthetic installation is discussed further in
Section 3.1. Approximately 59 cubic yards of UF, 15 cubic yards of SSF, and 2,376 square
feet of geotextile were used to construct the Secondary Underdrains.
2.3 Closure Drains
2.3.1 North Closure Drains
Ames constructed two Closure Drains under the north end of the Phase 5 PSSA shown on
IFC Drawing A244. The cross-sectional dimension of the each Closure Drain was nominally
50 feet by 50 feet wide by 3 feet deep, providing a volume of 7,500 cubic feet, as shown on IFC
Drawing A355. Ames excavated each Closure Drain to the minimum dimensions, and placed
geotextile and OF in the Closure Drain. Ames placed SF over the geotextile to a minimum
depth of 3 feet. The Closure Drain geosynthetic installation is discussed further in Section 3.2.
Approximately 556 cubic yards of UF, 556 cubic yards of SF, and 10,000 square feet of
geotextile were used to construct the Closure Drains. -
2.3.1 South Closure Drain
At the south end of the Phase 5 PSSA an area has been designated for a closure drain as
shown as shown on IFC Drawing A244. The area is approximately 65 feet by 55 feet and
resides over the Phase IVa VLF. At closure this area will be punctured and allowed to drain
into the Phase IVa VLF.
AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc.
2000 S.
