Vince Massaroti of New Elk Coal Company was present during the inspection. Activities to rehabilitate
the surface faciltities and the underground workings for future coal production continues. Ground conditions on
this day were dry and the weather was cool and windy.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE
Water was pumped from Pond 7 to
the prep plant thickener tank for
testing of the new prep plant
infrastructure,resulting a drop in
the water level of Pond 7, shown at
right. An opportunity exists to
install a marker on or adjacent to
the riser to indicate the water
elevation adequate to ensure the
storage of a 10-year, 24-hour storm
event. The operator has also
cleaned Pond 6 at the prep plant in
preparation for installing a pond
liner. The operator indicates that
the mine water pond,Pond 001,
may also be lined in the near future.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 4
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 6
