Box 1660, Cortez, CO 81321). The delineation was performed by Sugnet and
Associates on behalf of Nielsons, Inc., the engineers and project managers of a proposed
gravel pit to provide material for the Colorado Department of Transportation Federal Aid
project, of which they are the chosen contractor-The material harvest is proposed on an
upland bench near the La Plata River (out of river operation), and will require one
crossing of the river where a low-flow crossing, already exists (permit application to be
submitted once design is complete).
INTRODUCTION
This letter report summarizes the results of Sugnet and Associates' field delineation
performed on July 26, 1999. *The proposed project is the harvest of material to be used
for the construction of highway safety improvements, resurfacing, etc. The study was
conducted on the north side of the La Plata River, where the activities are proposed. Both
sides of the river were delineated in the vicinity of the proposed river crossing. The
wetlands delineated for this project are located in the northeast'/4 of Section 7, Township
33N, Range 12W. The project areas are accessed by travelling south from Hwy. 160 on
State Highway 140 until you reach La Plata County Road 100. Turn right (west) on Rd.
100 and travel approximately 2 miles until you reach a dirt road that leads to a small log
home on the north side. Follow the road until it winds past an old gravel pit and
continues to the La Plata River. The existing low-flow crossing at the river is the
approximate eastern boundary of the jurisdictional determination. Please refer to Figure
1 for a vicinity map, and Figure 2 for more detailed property boundary representations.
SITE CONDITIONS
