Management of Permanent Reference Sites
Since rangelands are subject to grazing use, it is necessary that permanent
reference sites be protected from grazing prior to sampling. Protection of the
sites is by forty-eight inch woven wire fencing. These structures adequately
preclude use by domestic livestock prior to sampling. once sampling is complete,
panels of fencing are removed to allow access by livestock. This technique will
insure that reference areas and post mine areas will receive similar exposure to
domestic grazing use. Methods of insuring proper use by domestic livestock on
all lands adjacent to reference sites are addressed in Section 3.6.3.8.
•
1
4-139
REVISED FEB 13'87
