PERMIT #: M-1984-097
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: RCO
INSPECTION DATE: October 29, 2010
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection. There was no activity at the site at the time of the inspection. The operator was
not present at the site.
(AT) Acid And Toxic Materials:
Narrative: No fuel is stored at the site. There was no debris or contaminants at the site.
(BG) Backfilling and Grading:
Narrative: The east wall of the pit has been sloped and reclaimed. The more recently active pit slopes are maintained at
3:1 slopes. The pit floor does not impound water and is fairly level.
(MP) Gen. Compliance With Mine Plan:
Narrative: The site contains several tens of thousands of yards of various product stockpiles, plus piles of reject fines and
subsoil or fill (in NW area). A small amount of waste asphalt was noted at the site, presumably to crush and/or recycle.
There was no equipment except for a conveyor/stacker in the pit. There was no debris, junk or non-mining items at the
site, and there was no fuel stored there. Future mining will expand the pit toward the south.
(RV) Revegetation:
Narrative: Some revegetation seeding has been performed. There are no areas of noxious weeds, though they have been
noted in the past. The operator appears to be successfully controlling noxious weeds.
(SM) Signs and Markers:
Narrative: The permit ID sign was posted at the entrance gate, and the permit boundaries were marked. (A portion of the
eastern boundary is well marked by a line of boulders. Since there are numerous boulders in the pit, which the operator
cannot remove under limitations of the USFS permit, the operator may consider additionally placing them along other
portions of the permit boundary, in advance of the expansion of the pit toward the south.)
(SW) Storm Water MGT Plan:
Narrative: Stormwater is being adequately managed onsite.
(TS) Topsoil:
Narrative: Topsoil is stockpiled in the NW corner and along the E side of the permit. It is vegetated and well protected
for later use in reclamation. There is a number of dumped loads of imported topsoil in the western side of the pit, which
appears to be from a county road project. If other materials are to be imported to the site in the future, the operator should
submit a Notice pursuant to Rule 3.1.5(9). At this time, this is not a problerm topic. The operator should monitor the soil
materials for weeds, and treat as needed.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Inspection Contact Address
Dannie Rogers
Mineral County
P.O.
