Pineda <br />Director <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on November 10, 2010, an <br />application to revise coal mining operations at the McClane Canyon Mine was considered complete for <br />the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations <br />initiate from this date of filing. <br />McClane Canyon Mining, LLC has submitted Permit Revision Application No. 2 (PR-2) to provide for <br />expansion of surface facilities and the mining plan. McClane Canyon Mining proposes to increase <br />production to 500,000 clean tons per year and build a cleaning plan and associated facilities. The <br />proposed revision PR-2 would provide for new coal cleaning facilities, a new coal mine waste pile, <br />sediment pond and topsoil and construction material stockpiles south of the existing McClane Canyon <br />Mine facilities. <br />The underground coal mining operation is located approximately 19 miles north of Loma, Colorado. The <br />permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 3, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, and 34, T7S, R102W, 6th PM, all in Garfield <br />County. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Howard Canyon <br />and Garvey Canyon. <br />DRMS requests written verification regarding Federal mining leases and/or federal surface access <br />approval. McClane Canyon Mining has referenced the Federal mining leases and/or Federal Surface <br />access agreements Federal Coal Leases C-0125439 and C-0125515 in this application as a document <br />upon which they base their legal right to enter. Please verify that the leases and/or agreements have been <br />issued and that final BLM/federal agency lease/agreement approval has been granted.
