The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33,
Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on November 10, 2010, an application to revise
coal mining operations at the McClane Canyon Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All
review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
McClane Canyon Mining, LLC has submitted Permit Revision Application No. 2 (PR-2) to provide for expansion
of surface facilities and the mining plan. McClane Canyon Mining proposes to increase production to 500,000
clean tons per year and build a cleaning plan and associated facilities. The proposed revision PR-2 would provide
for new coal cleaning facilities, a new coal mine waste pile, sediment pond and topsoil and construction material
stockpiles south of the existing McClane Canyon Mine facilities.
The underground coal mining operation is located approximately 19 miles north of Loma, Colorado. The permit
area is further described as follows:
Portions of Sections 3, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, and 34, T7S, R1 02W, 6th PM, all in Garfield County.
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Howard Canyon and
Garvey Canyon.
A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder, 544
Rood Avenue, Grand Junction, CO 81502, and at the Division office. For additional information, to provide
written comments, or to request an informal conference, contact the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567, within thirty (30) days after the last
