May Day Idaho Mine Complex 112 (d) Permit Application <br />6. Phase 6 - Milling Completion and Closure <br />At the end of the life of the mine, all remaining ore will be completely milled and tailings <br />disposed of in accordance with the approved Reclamation Plan (Exhibit E) and Division <br />requirements. Closure of the mine will include demolition of non-historic buildings and <br />structures and removal of all salvageable material from the permit area. All non- <br />salvageable material will be buried in place or in the adits and stopes as defined in the <br />Reclamation Plan or removed from the permit area. Reclamation will be conducted as <br />detailed in the Reclamation Plan. <br />6.4.4(b) Earthmoving <br />Based on the proposed Mine Plan, the following earthmoving activities will be <br />undertaken at the site (in proposed order of operation): <br />• Cut and fill activities associated with construction and stabilization of the Access <br />Road; <br />• Removal of collapse material from the May Day No. 1 portal and stockpiled at the <br />May Day No. 2 bench; <br />• Expansion of the May Day No. 2 bench for overburden and mined rock storage; <br />• Grading and installation of stormwater structures on the existing access roads and <br />operational benches; <br />• Construction of an augmentation pond at the Idaho Operational Area, including the <br />associated pipelines; <br />• Consolidation of ore-bearing mine rock from stockpiles at the Idaho, May Day No. 2 <br />and Lamb Operational Areas to the May Day No. 1 stope; <br />• Reclamation activities at the May Day No. 2 and Chief Tunnel; and <br />• Construction of exploration access roads and drilling pads. <br />60.43(c) All water diversions and impoundments <br />Water diversions will be constructed on the access roads and operational benches as <br />described within the Stormwater Management Plan (Exhibit T, Section 6.4.20.10.b), <br />An augmentation pond to contain 1.0 acre-feet will be constructed in order to meet State <br />Engineer water right requirements (Water Rights Case No. 06CW91). The pond will be <br />constructed as per the design within the Geotechnical Stability Exhibit. Two pipelines <br />will be constructed as extensions of the augmentation pond to: <br />• provide water to the La Plata River when there is a call; and <br />• acquire water from the underground workings when filling the augmentation pond <br />is required in order to satisfy the State Engineer's requirements. <br />6.4.4(d) The size of area(s) to be worked at any one time <br />As described above, most of the operational activity will occur in underground workings. <br />Surface disturbances are limited to the operational areas depicted on Figure C-4.
