Should those 21
residents loose their jobs and have to move away because the area is economically
-deprived, we would loose 19 students from our school7districf and possibly 21 spouses.
Not only would we lose those directly related to mining but also truck drivers and their
families. The Tri State Power plant would have to contract with an outside contractor
and pay more to have the coal hauled long distances. The Town of Nucla benefits from
Western Fuels employing the local people owning their own homes and paying property
taxes.
Western Fuels is not only as asset to the town but also a good neighbor. Western Fuels
is always supportive of the town. They constantly donate to civic groups, the schools and
the senior programs. Without Western Fuels the Senior Building that houses senior
meals would not have become a reality. Western Fuels does an excellent job of
reclamation also.
