Compliance With Mine Plan NA - Support Facilities Not On-site <br />N - Other NA - Special Categories Of Mining <br />R - Processing Waste Y -Topsoil <br />COMMENTS <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Janet Binns of CDRMS. Stephanie Reigh of CDRMS accompanied the <br />inspection. Mr. Scott Wanstedt represented BME. The weather was warm and dry though the mine had measured <br />0. 3511 precipitation on 10/17 to 10/18. The mine is an active underground mine. Mining continues in Long wall <br />panel 11. <br />BACKFILL and GRADING - Rule 4.140 0Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original <br />Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic <br />Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6: <br />BME was in the process of sealing B vent shaft 3. The operator continues to pump cement into this shaft, <br />allows cement to dry, then adds additional material. BME will continue to seal this shaft. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 ? 0 Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, <br />4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water <br />Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage - Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; <br />Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />The mine had received 0-35"of ppt. over 10/17 and 10/18.The surface areas of the mine were dry with <br />occasional puddles or muddy areas. <br />Ponds inspected: RPI, RP4,RP5, & SS2, were dry. Pond SS/ had recently had the inlet cleaned of sediment. The <br />pond cleanings had been hauled to Refuse pile 4. BME had also dug sediment to the south of the inlet culvert to <br />pond SS 1 . Additional cleanout of material from the culvert under the access road is needed. <br />DPI pond was holding water, as was PPI.RR1 had a very small puddle of water.
