PERMIT #: M-2006-024
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: JLE
INSPECTION DATE: October 18, 2010
OBSERVATIONS
This was a follow-up inspection of the Carrizo Stone South site, DRMS File No. M-2006-024 operated by Carrizo Stone,
LLC. This site is located approximately 22 miles south of Pritchett, Colorado in Baca County. I, Jared Ebert of the
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) conducted the inspection. Mr. Ray Sikes of Carrizo
Stone, LLC. accompanied me on the inspection.
During a previous site inspection on June 1, 2010, the Division found the Operator had placed a small processing area
outside of the southern boundary line. Carrizo Stone, LLC. was found in violation of C.R.S. 34-32.5-116 (4) (i) for
failure to protect areas outside of the affected land from slides or damages occurring during the mining operation at the
July, 2010 Mined Land Reclamation Board Meeting. The Operator was ordered to submit a technical revision to update
the affected land/permit boundary to encompass the entire disturbance outside of the permit boundary. The Operator
completed the corrective action required by the Board. This inspection was conducted in order to determine if the permit
boundary had been marked correctly and to ensure all of the affected land was encompassed by the permit boundary.
The permit boundary was marked with temporary wood posts and rock cairns. Mr. Sikes wanted to ensure he had marked
his permit boundary correctly prior to placing permanent markers. Based off the Divisions observations, it appears the
permit boundary markers are in the correct location and encompass the affected land.
Inspection Contact Address
Ray Sikes
Carrizo Stone, LLC
1425 County Road Q
Pritchett, CO 81064
