See the DRMS availability of records
list attached.
: HYDROLOGIC BALANCE
Ponds inspected include the 004, 003, POCOCO Pond, and Pond 002. All ponds were discharging at the time of
the inspection. All ponds were stable with the exception of the following:
- A modified trash guard was installed at the Pond 004 outlet. The guard was comprised of two stakes - 3" apart.
This guard would prevent clogging of the outlet spillway of the pond. The current design identifies a screened
cage as the non- clogging device.
- Pond 004 embankments displayed two live willow trees growing at the toe of the embankment. The largest tree
was -15' tall, -4" diameter, -10' of foliage cover, and was -20' from the crest of the dam.
- Animal burrows are evident in the embankments of Ponds 003 and POCOCO.
All ditches and culverts inspected were stable and in compliance with the exception of the following:
-The unidentified culvert located perpendicular and -10 ft from culvert 29A will need to be addresses. Scott
Cowman stated that the culvert was installed by the land owner to allow access to a ranch road. This culvert will
need to be designed to ensure that its 12" diameter will be adequate allow drainage or will need to be replaced
with an adequate size and included in the Sage Creek permit or removed.
- Culverts 31A, A8, 13A and 53A are damaged.
: GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE
This was a complete inspection of the Peabody Sage Creek Mine conducted by Jason Musick of CDRMS. Scott
Cowman of Peabody Sage Creek Coal Company accompanied the inspection. The mine site was wet and the
weather was clear at the time of the inspection. The mine office remodel continues with a completion date by
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 2 of 6
