Site/Feature Type Foundation and Artifact Scatter <br />4. General Site Description: The site consists of a foundation and artifact scatter covering 3500 sq. m. It is <br />Situated on a terrace overlooking the St. Charles river to the North at an elevation of 1,664 m. the foundation <br />Is made of limestone and is a 20 ft x 20ft square. Most of the scatter is concentrated to the east of the <br />Foundation. Artifacts found include: window glass, purple bottle glass, white earthenware, bricks, brown bottle <br />glass, brown glazed stoneware, aqua bottle glass, railroad spikes, and various types of nails. <br />5. Historic Component Date(s) and/or Sociopolitical Period: 1860s/1872 to ? <br />Justification: A patent was granted in 1872, but the land is usually settled for a period before this. Artifacts are <br />Consistent with a pre-1917 date.
