Permit Revision No.2
Response to Adequacy Comments
Page 7
2.04.7 and 2.05.6(3)
18. On page 2.04.7-1, the second paragraph under PHC is original permit text that is
included here for discussion purposes in the PHC revision. The text is very confusing
in its description of the important sampling locations below the Pond 008 outfall. This
text should not be changed because it is the original PHC text on page 7-247 of the
existing PAP but some clarification here would be helpful. Please insert an
explanation below the 2"d paragraph under Probable Hydrologic Consequences
(page 2.04.7-1) that clearly explains the location and importance of Sites SSFII and
SSF13. For example, "Pond 008 discharges to Bond Creek which flows into Fish
Creep Site SSF11 is the upstream sample site on Fish Creek above its confluence
with Bond Creek and SSF13 is the downstream sample site on Fish Creek below the
confluence with Bond Creep"
Response: The text has been revised as requested.
19. Substantial monitoring plan changes were approved for the adjacent Yoast and Seneca
II-W Mines in May 2010. The precise changes to the parameter lists for surface water
and groundwater are now being proposed for the Seneca 11 Mine. It would be helpful
to reference the Yoast and II-W revisions. In the last sentence of the 2"d paragraph
under Monitoring Plan please add the following: "...adjacent Seneca II-W Mine
(TR-69 approved May 2010 and Yoast Mine (TR-47 approved May 2010).
Response: The text has been revised as requested.
Attached are two (2) copies of the responses and updated materials, a third copy has been
sent to Dan Mathews.
Should you or any other member of the Division have questions regarding the information,
please contact me at (970) 276-5217.
Sincerel
Roy A.
