The IAP fan is approximately 11.5' x 9.5' x 9' and was placed 20' west of the borehole on a 20' x 30' x
2' concrete pad. The Robinson fan was acquired from the Fish Creek Borehole facility and is
approximately 8' x 9' x 11'. The Robinson fan was placed 20' south of the borehole on a 20' x 20' x 2'
pad and includes a 20' x 20' x 12' lean-to building. A spare pad with dimensions of 24' x 12' x .8' was
constructed approximately 20' east of the borehole to facilitate an additional fan installation that is no
longer required.
The intake fan is a Jeffrey 60" diameter axial vane fan with capacity to move 150,000 cubic feet per
minute into the mine. The prime mover is an 800 hp motor. This fan was installed approximately 20'
east of the intake borehole. The dimensions of this fan are approximately 5.3' x 7.3' x 6.5'. Support for
this fan is provided by a 20' x 20' x 1' concrete pad.
The installation of a heater was required to warm the air being blown into the mine under freezing
conditions. The heater was constructed on the east side of the intake fan vent shaft. A concrete pad
approximately 12' x 26' x 1' was constructed to support the heater. Overall dimensions of the heater are
10' x 20' x 10'. The structure was painted to match the existing structures on the site.
An electrical control building was constructed between the intake and exhaust fan locations. A 16' x 16'
x 2' concrete pad was constructed for the building will be 16' x 16' x 12'. Two 8' x 8' x 2' concrete pads
were constructed beside the building for placement of transformers. Six electrical poles were installed
from the electrical control building to the fan installations.
In order to improve operation of the ventilation system, an additional electrical control panel was installed
at the site. The panel is approximately 5' x 3' x 8' and sits on a concrete pad that is approximately 8' x 8'
• x 4 ". A power cable extends from the control panel to the IAP fan and four new poles were added to
allow for installation of the cable. The location of the controller, pad, and poles is shown on Figure
16E(1).
The access roads into the site have approximately 9" of 6" minus pit run and 4" of 1" minus base coarse.
The material was graded and crowned to facilitate drainage off of the roads. The upper road is
approximately 900 feet in length and the lower road is approximately 450 feet in length. The top width of
the roads is approximately 15 feet. Upland drainage is diverted around the site. The fan buildings were
painted to blend in with the surrounding area. The fence constructed around the perimeter of the site is
used to keep animals out of the area. The power line comes in from the northeast from an existing YVEA
site. The sediment control system utilizes a diversion ditch, seeding and mulching topsoil pile, cut and fill
slopes, grading road and pad, and the adjacent vegetation filter.
IAP Fan Silencer (MR 02 -178)
A new silencer will be installed on the IAP fan, and installation of the silencer and associated duct work
will require construction of foundations and H -Beam supports. The four foundations will require footers
(3.5' x 3.5' x 1') and then placement of piers (4' x 1.3') on top of the footers. The footers will be
approximately 3' below grade. The supports will be constructed of H -beams (W8 x 18) with 3 /I' cross
braces. The support structures are approximately 17' in length. Another H -beam, same specification as
support, will be placed on top of the supports and the silencer bolted to it. The ductwork will tie into the
silencer and existing fan.
Is
MR 02 -179 2.05 -44 08/06/02
