footers. During final reclamation the conveyors and stoker will be torn down and removed from the site. The <br />foundation for the building will be covered during site regrading. <br />• Railroad Track <br />A twelve -mile railroad spur line connects the Foidel Creek Mine with the east -west railroad line (Craig Branch) of <br />the Union Pacific Railroad Company (UP). This spur line was originally constructed in 1962 to service the Energy <br />Mine No. 1 and ended just west of the Tipple No. 1. In 1974, the spur line was extended to service Tipple No. 2. <br />In order to accommodate larger unit trains, CYCC further extended the existing railroad spur approximately 300 <br />feet. Approximately 70 feet of this most recent extension was constructed in a previously disturbed area. The <br />extension was constructed to the configuration and specifications shown on Figure 11A, Existing Railroad Cross - <br />Section. The typical cut drawing for the railroad extension is presented as Figure 11B. <br />Construction of the spur extension involved topsoil salvage, construction of a diversion ditch, cut and fill work, <br />placement of road -bed materials, and installation of railroad ties and track, as described in the following <br />paragraphs. An existing road was used to access the site. Given the short duration of the project, topsoil was not <br />removed from the existing road. Upon completion of the project, the road will be bladed as needed. <br />The disturbance associated with this project resulted in stripping of approximately 21 inches of Coutis Fine Sandy <br />Loam from the area. Refer to Map 29, Energy Mine No. 1 and 2 Soils Map, for the location of this soil unit in <br />relation to the railroad disturbance. It is estimated that topsoil was salvaged from an area of approximately 2 acres, <br />resulting in recovery and stockpiling of approximately 5,800 CY of topsoil for use in final reclamation of the area. <br />The stockpile was stabilized by seeding it with the Pastureland seed mixture. The location of the stockpile is shown <br />on Map 29. <br />In conjunction with this activity, CYCC constructed a diversion ditch upslope of the extension, to route undisturbed <br />• drainage around the site.
