(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1995-021
INSPECTION DATE: 21 Sept 2010 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: D82_
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine inspection conducted by David Bird of DRMS. The Operator was contacted but did not attend
the inspection. The site is located about 20 miles southwest of Hartsel, and just south of Elevenmile Reservoir
near the intersection of County Roads 59 and 890. The file lists borrow material as the commodity of interest.
The total permit area is 9.9 acres, and the post-mining land use is described as rangeland. No bond is held as the
operator is a government entity. The site shares a common boundary with another Park County site, the Chaparral
2 Pit.
There was no activity at the site at the time of the inspection, but there was evidence of fairly recent activity.
Equipment on site included a dozer, screen, and two small portable conveyors. There were also two sheds and
port-a-lets.
No problems were observed. An appropriate sign is posted at the mine entrance, and the permit boundaries are
adequately marked.
All highwalls are sloped 3:1 or thereabouts, no erosional problems were seen, and no adverse impacts to the
hydrologic balance are evident. The topsoil stockpile appears a bit small for the site so upon closure some topsoil
might have to be imported.
The operator had recently inquired about notification required for the use of explosives at the site. Since the use
of explosives is not currently part of the mine plan, this will have to be noticed as a Technical Revision in
accordance with Construction Materials Rule 1.9. The operator also must meet the requirements of Rule 6.5(4),
by providing an appropriate engineering analysis to demonstrate that off-site areas will not be adversely affected
by blasting.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: David Kintz
OPERATOR: Park County
STREET: P.O.
