2010 <br />WILLIAMS PIT <br />Gravel Pit <br />Section III <br />Ecological Site Information <br />The plant community of the gravel pit area is a mix of grasses and forbs primarily with <br />some shrub species. Grasses account for 80-90% of the plant community while shrubs <br />and forbs make up the balance. The grasses commonly present on this site include <br />little bluestem, blue grama, western wheatgrass, side oats grama, indian ricegrass, sand <br />dropseed, needle and thread, green needlegrass, galleta and bottlebrush squirreltail. <br />Forbs and shrub community commonly occurring are: slimflower scurfpea, dotted <br />gayfeather, scarlet globemallow, broom snakeweed, winterfat, Indian paintbrush, hairy <br />goldaster, rabbit brush, four-wing saltbush, juniper and other assorted forbs may be <br />present.
