Other than the temporary (one day) removal and replacement of the talus fill, there was no
additional disturbance associated with this project. Dimensions of the redisturbed area are
approximately 35 ft by 50 ft (1750 sq ft). There was no new road construction, as access to
the portal is via an established gravel & dirt road located on both private and public lands.
There was no disturbance to the 9700 waste dump, located below the 9700 portal, which has
been successfully reclaimed.
This work did not constitute final closure for the 9700 portal, as described in Exhibit E
(Reclamation Plan) of Permit No. M-1977-215, which calls for the portal to be sealed from
entry by the installation of steel or concrete gates, or bulkheads.
No new disturbance is anticipated to occur during the upcoming year.
Reclamation
Reclamation activities during the past year continued in the form of surface water monitoring
in Windy Gulch, maintenance of vegetation (spraying to eliminate noxious weeds), and
regular inspection of the site. These activities will continue during the upcoming year.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. If you have any questions, please contact
me at (719) 658-1080.
