Box 591 <br />5174 Highway 133 <br />Somerset, CO 81434 <br />(970) 929-2200 <br />Fax (970) 929-5050 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Re: Mountain Coal Company, LLC, West Elk Mine; Permit No. C-1980-007; Minor <br />Revision No. MR-371, Addition of Pipe and Walkway to Freshwater Pond FW-2 <br />Dear Mr. Kaldenbach: <br />Mountain Coal Company, LLC (MCC) submits this letter and application form in application of <br />Minor Revision No. MR-371 to add pipelines to connect Freshwater Pond FW-2 (formerly <br />Pond M13-1) to Freshwater Pond FWA and to MCC's water treatment plant, as well as to <br />construct a 12' foot extension of the walkway out over the pond's existing outlet gate structure. <br />Approximately 440' of 8" diameter HDPE pipe will be installed to allow water to be pumped <br />from one freshwater pond to the other and about 390' of 8" diameter HDPE pipe will be <br />installed to direct water to the water treatment plant (a total of 830). About half of both <br />pipelines will be buried. The walkway will be about 4' wide and 12' long, with a steel frame and <br />handrails and a wood deck supported by 12' long, small steel I-beams anchored to the existing <br />concrete outlet structure in the pond. <br />Please contact me at (970) 929-2238 or by e-mail should you have questions regarding this <br />submittal. <br />Sincerely, <br />Kathleen G.
