May Day and Idaho Mine Complex 112 (d) Permit Application
• Mining and milling operations will be underground; therefore the most notable direct,
long -term impact will be increased traffic on the access road:
• twice a day by commuting mine personnel (ten or fewer total personnel)
• approximately once per week haul truck for stockpiled ore and processed mine
rock
• Exploration roads and drill pads will temporarily disturb less than one acre of habitat per
each drill site. Eleven sites are planned and will be performed sequentially with each
drill pad reclaimed upon abandonment. Exploration roads will not be reclaimed; there-
fore this will result in some new habitat fragmentation.
Indirect impacts will be increased daytime activity and noise around the May Day Portal No. 1.
Upon completion and final reclamation of this proposed mine operation, no significant continued
impact, either direct or indirect is expected on the wildlife in the area. The affected lands will be
returned to their pre- mining land use as recreational and the disturbed areas will be returned to a
native mixed coniferous and deciduous forest type. The disturbed areas will be in successional
stage so habitat in these immediate areas may contain slightly different abundance of local insect
and small mammal wildlife.
6.4.8(2) Division of Wildlife Recommendations
The Colorado Division of Wildlife has been contacted and a copy of the mine plan submitted to
them. Wildcat is waiting their response to incorporate their recommendations.
May Day Idaho Mine Complex 112(d) Permit Application
September 21, 2010
5
