Upon closure, the augmentation ponds will be backfilled, and graded to <br />. blend with the existing topography. Slopes will be equal to or less than 2(H): I (V). Standard revegetation <br />method will then be implemented (Section 6.4.5(2)(d) below). <br />After clean up and earthmoving, final revegetation will be conducted as identified in Section 6.4.5(2)(d) <br />and (f) below. <br />Pre - existing Access Roads <br />Pre - existing access and exploration roads will not be reclaimed or revegetated (these roads are identified <br />in Exhibit C -1). <br />Access Road Easement Closure <br />The temporary access road from the La Plata Canyon paved road (CR -124) will be closed to access and <br />reclaimed at the conclusion of mining activities. Road reclamation activities will include: <br />• the road will be graded to drain runoff from the 10 -year 24 -hour storm to the out slope; <br />• the road berm /guard rail will be removed; <br />• 75 to 100 foot spaced rolling dip or water bars will be constructed; <br />• excavated excess material will be used to blend the topography to approximate original contour <br />• the existing 36 inch CMP will be removed and channel reconstructed; <br />• excess road fill will be used to contour road disturbed areas or be used as a road barrier. (Exhibit <br />D -2); <br />• disturbed areas will be seeded; and <br />• road closure and no trespassing signs will be posted. <br />Disturbance to designated wetlands will be avoided to the extent possible and unavoidable impacts will be <br />minimized and /or mitigated in accordance with the Army Corps of Engineers criteria (Attachment E -2). <br />As necessary and when deemed prudent by the Division, material including rocks and boulders will be <br />removed from the wetland along the toe of the road fill. The mitigation wetlands will be designed to <br />blend with the existing topography as submitted to and approved by the Army Corps of Engineers. <br />The access road reclamation area will have a side slope not exceeding 1.5(H):I(V) with the exception of <br />the cut slope which will remain at a slope of approximately 0.7:1. In addition, the road fill including the <br />culvert will be removed. Excavated fill will be used to grade the road to tie contours into the existing to- <br />pography. Damaged silt fencing, wattles, rock barriers, and check dams will be replaced and removed <br />when the slope is deemed to be stable. Disturbed wetlands will be reclaimed in accordance with Army <br />Corp of Engineers reclamation criteria. <br />6.4.5(2)(b) ]Post- Mining Use and Vicinity <br />Following mining and reclamation, the site will be returned to recreational land use. This is compatible <br />with land use for the rest of the land within property boundaries and surrounding land use. A significant <br />portion of the surrounding land is the public San Juan National Forest, administered by the U.S. Forest <br />Service, with primary use as recreational, wilderness, range, timber, watershed, and fish and wildlife habi- <br />tat.
