4. Remaining Items to be Completed
Listed below are the Yule Quarry items to complete the work for the Amendment of 2010:
1) Clean out flagged portions of Collection Ditch #5 leading to Sump 5. The flags were marked by
Greg Lewicki during the September 16 inspection.
2) Add facilities sump to plan (no work on site).
3) Add vertical markers on Collection Ditch 5 to Sump 5 for snowplowing.
4) Dig entrance water bar and/or culvert into Sump 2.
5) Get 40 lbs of seed (same as in the reclamation plan) for broadcast on the roads from Sumps 2, 3 and
4 as well as berms and any other disturbance in the area. This seed must be broadcast in the next 2-3
weeks, or before October 15, 2010.
6) In Sump 4, drop the emergency spillway a height of 4 inches over 4 feet length where the rock is on
the outside slope.
7) In Sump 1, build up the current location of the emergency spillway to the same height as the rest of
the dam and make a new emergency spillway, approximately 4 feet wide and 4-6 inches lower than the
top of the dam so that the water flows away from the road and any other area that drains to Sump 2.
Also in Sump 1, add bentonite to the area where the principal spillway pipe enters the berm to ensure
that the pond is sealed.
8) Install a water bar just uphill of the generator so that the collection ditch flow crosses the road, goes
on the side of the parking area and makes its way to Sump 2.
9) The measured area and height for Sump 2 shows that it contains slightly less volume than the
design. See attached sheet for Sump 2. This sump needs to be built 1 foot higher along the outside.
Since the north side of the sump is the steep slope and the west and south sides have the access road
tilted toward the sump, the only side that needs to rise is the east side. This is the side between the road
and the steep slope. The material must be compacted as it is placed. The emergency spillway must also
rise 1 foot and 6" diameter rock must be placed on the outside slope of the spillway.
It is my understanding that Cedric Beggar of Colorado Stone is working on these items and they
should be completed soon.
Fines generated from future quarry operations should not be allowed to be placed anywhere on the
surface area of the mine.
Yule Quarry As Built Report 2010 9
