PERMIT #: M-1998-003
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: DMC
INSPECTION DATE: September 14, 2010
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS) normal
monitoring program. Steve Baker, representing 3B Enterprises, LLC, was present during the inspection. Photographs are
included at the end of this report to illustrate the conditions observed during the inspection.
The Raftopoulos Pit #1 is located approximately forty miles northwest of Craig and accessed from CR 4.
The affected area includes approximately 15 acres, most of which has been disturbed by mining operations. The northern
portion of the permit area is level and graveled, and several stockpiles were located here. Mining was occurring in the
southern portion of the permit area during this inspection. The active highwall(s) were on the south east side of the permit
area and just north of the crusher. There appeared to be approximately 800-1,000 feet of unreclaimed highwall graded at
approximately 1 H:1 V, and roughly 20 feet high.
A portion of the southwest permit area has been mostly reclaimed with vegetation becoming well established.
Based on site conditions observed during this inspection, the financial warranty currently held by DRMS is considered
adequate for this site. It was recommended to the operator during this inspection to minimize the amount of unreclaimed
highwall at the site as much as possible in order to minimize reclamation costs by reducing the amount of earthmoving
necessary when creating the required 4H:1 V slopes during reclamation.
No problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Steve Baker
3B Enterprises, LLC
P.O.
